
Bernardine is a highly skilled physical therapist with a deep focus on orthopedic care. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Human Movement Science in 1993, followed by her Physiotherapy degree in 1997, both from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. Since then, she has dedicated her career to helping patients achieve optimal recovery and functional movement, practicing in both South Africa and the United States.
A passionate lifelong learner, Bernardine has completed numerous post-graduate courses in Orthopedic Manual Therapy and Pain Science, with a particular focus on the Australian Approach. Her pursuit of clinical excellence led to her certification as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) in 2005 by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. She successfully recertified in 2015 and 2025, underlining her commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care. In 2018, Bernardine broadened her expertise by undergoing specialized training to become a certified pelvic health practitioner.
In 2016, Bernardine earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Evidence in Motion, enhancing both her clinical knowledge and research capabilities. Additionally, she completed the Executive Program in Private Practice Management, gaining leadership skills to effectively manage and grow Newbury Park Physical Therapy.
Outside of her professional life, Bernardine is a firm believer in staying active and practicing what she preaches. She enjoys running, HIIT workouts, and cycling. When she's not at the clinic or working out, she loves spending time with her family, cooking, and traveling.
